A clear process from first conversation to monthly reporting.
ENSIGHT follows a structured process designed to understand your business, define the right scope of services, establish secure access, and create a dependable monthly bookkeeping and financial reporting workflow.
Based in New Jersey. Serving businesses virtually.
01
Discovery
The process begins with a conversation about your business, your current bookkeeping environment, what’s working, what’s isn’t, and what you would like to improve.
What We’ll Discuss
- Business model and primary services
- Current bookkeeping process
- Accounting software
- Number of bank and credit card accounts
- Approximate monthly transaction volume
- Current reconciliation status
- Existing financial reporting
- Bookkeeping pain points
- Reporting and visibility needs
- Desired timing and priorities
The Goal
Discovery helps determine whether ENSIGHT may be a good fit, what additional information may be needed, and whether the next step should be an assessment, cleanup review, or recurring bookkeeping proposal.
There is no obligation to proceed following the initial discovery conversation.
02
Assessment
Before recommending a service level or finalizing pricing, ENSIGHT evaluates the actual bookkeeping environment and the level of work required.
What We Review
- Transaction volume
- Number of financial accounts
- Reconciliation complexity
- Current condition of the books
- Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable activity, where applicable
- Payment processors and clearing accounts
- Accounting integrations
- Reporting requirements
- Existing cleanup or catch-up needs
- Other factors affecting monthly complexity
Why It Matters
Two businesses with similar revenue can have very different bookkeeping requirements. Assessment helps ENSIGHT recommend a service level and scope based on actual accounting complexity rather than assumptions.
If significant historical cleanup is required, a separate Cleanup Diagnostic may be recommended before recurring monthly services begin.
03
Proposal
Once the scope is understood, ENSIGHT provides a written proposal outlining the recommended services, pricing, assumptions, and next steps.
Your Proposal Will Define
- Recommended service level
- Scope of services
- Monthly or project pricing
- Included deliverables
- Reporting expectations
- Service assumptions
- Relevant exclusions
- Proposed start date
- Next steps
Clear Expectations Before Work Begins
The proposal gives you an opportunity to understand the recommended engagement and ask questions before making a commitment.
If you decide to proceed, ENSIGHT will provide the applicable engagement agreement and onboarding instructions.
04
Secure Onboarding
After the engagement is accepted, ENSIGHT coordinates the information, system access, and documentation needed to begin services efficiently and securely.
Onboarding May Include
- Business and privacy-contract information
- QuickBooks Online accountant access
- Financial-account information
- Bank and credit card statements
- Prior bookkeeping reports
- Payroll-provider information, where applicable
- Tax-preparer contact information, where appropriate
- Relevant accounting-system integrations
- Supporting documents required for cleanup or opening balances
- Communication preferences
A Security-Conscious Process
ENSIGHT uses appropriate access methods and structured document collection to reduce unnecessary sharing of sensitive financial information.
Clients should not send bank passwords, credit card passwords, or other sensitive login credentials through ordinary email. Where supported, accountant or delegated access should be used instead of sharing primary account credentials.
05
Monthly Close & Reporting
Once onboarding and any required cleanup are complete, ENSIGHT transitions the engagement into a consistent monthly bookkeeping and reporting process.
The Monthly Workflow
- Review downloaded financial activity
- Categorize and match transactions
- Identify missing information
- Reconcile bank accounts
- Reconcile credit card accounts
- Review relevant Balance Sheet activity
- Complete the month-end close
- Prepare agreed financial reports
- Perform applicable financial review and analysis
- Deliver reporting according to the agreed service level
Ongoing Communication
ENSIGHT communicates questions and missing-information requests during the monthly process so issues can be resolved before reporting is finalized.
Reporting timing depends on the selected service level and the timely receipt of required client information.
Essential: Target reporting by approximately the 20th
Growth: Target reporting by approximately the 15th
Insight: Target reporting by approximately the 10th
